Modern Steak

Sam Fox has become a bit of an enigma in Arizona with the proverbial “Midas Touch” when it comes to the art of eateries.
Everything he opens is steeped in success, and Modern Steak is no exception. A bit whimsical and feminine than other Fox Concepts, Modern Steak is my favorite mother/daughter luncheon spot.
The glamorous entrance and ample bar are flooded with natural light as the glass doors reveal a charming covered patio, a modern secret garden of sorts. The dining rooms are filled with plush furniture and rugs to convey the warmth of eating in a friend’s comfortable (and well decorated) home, illuminated by the soft light of crystal chandeliers.
As for the food, among my favorite dishes are the salads, with ample portions and unique ingredients that create a wonderful texture and color. The Jumbo Shrimp Louie Salad with hearts of palm, avocado and tomato is delicious, as is the Warm Maine Lobster Salad with fingerling potato, corn, mushroom, and white truffle. I am equally in love with the Perfect Pimms cocktail as I am the Truffle Fries (they are not on the lunch menu, but if you request them the kitchen will happily oblige).
So I only have two questions for Mr. Fox when it comes to Modern Steak: How does one achieve a “perfect” Pimms? And can I get your decorator’s number?
