Restaurant Ikarus

Restaurant in Salzburg

Guest Chef Restaurant

The "Restaurant Ikarus" in Hangar-7 is a unique restaurant concept.

Under the auspices of the “Chef of the Century” Eckart Witzigmann, top-flight cooks from around the world take over the restaurant kitchen for a month a time. What a great idea!

This is an extraodinary place, it is as it says an aircaft hangar and home to a Douglas DC-6B and Red Bull Formula 1 cars and aircraft, with an amazing glass cover.

Well worth a visit for the array of machinery on display and a great meal or if you simply want to grab a drink after work at one of their two bars.

A SUBSEQUENT RECENT VISIT (Feb 2011)
We had a table on the terrace with an overview of the whole Hangar which was a special atmosphere.

The chef at that time was Marcus G. Lindner (3 Hauben, 1 Michelin Star) from Mesa in Zürich.

We had a 7 course menu with perfect corresponding wines from Switzerland and France. The service was just perfect and discreet.

Pricewise it is, even for a Michelin Starred restaurant, quite expensive but absolutely worth the money. (Around 200-250 EUR per person).

Overall it’s a great restaurant with a unique concept which you need to visit when you are in Salzburg the next time. I will definitely be back when I am in this area.
