Park Hyatt Paris Vendôme

Hotel in Paris

5-Star Hotel

A beautiful hidden away luxury hotel in the heart of Paris.

As soon as you walk through the door you can smell the most wonderful fragrance that has been created specifically for the hotel.

The 162 rooms (including 36 suites) are spread over six floors and each floor has its own fragrance, however all the rooms share the same Ed Tuttle designed décor.  There is an 18th Century contemporary feel with material used from that time and an abundance of gold leaf.  Little touches such as the miniature statues as window catches add to the unique nature the hotel along with the contemporary art you will see placed around the hotel in the rooms.

All the rooms are well insulated from outside noise with good double glazing and all are air conditioned.  The quieter rooms look in to the inner courtyard.  I like the good desk area and comfortable chair and the fact that the power points are at the back of the desk and accessible.  Wi-Fi and cable Internet access is available at a daily rate.  There is of course a personal safe and I love the large Samsung flat screen TV, DVD player and iPod docking station into the TV.  All rooms receive complimentary water each day.

You will not find wardrobes in the rooms but rather a tidy and spacious closet area at the back of the bathrooms, of which around 60% have natural light.  There are also draws in which to put your things away.  The bathrooms are luxurious with oatmeal coloured Paris limestone throughout.  The Deluxe rooms (35-40 sq m) have an integrated bath and huge shower and anti-fog mirror and all bathrooms have a separate toilet and Blaise Mautin bathroom amenities.  I do like the heated floors and amazing detail on the taps.  You are not short of counter and storage space either.

The Park Suite, which is one large room at 48 sq m has a standalone shower, green carpeting and has a lovely warm feel to it.  I also adore the off-white cotton sheeted duvet.  The Executive Suites (55 sq m) include a separate bathroom for guests and can have two separate entrance doors ideal for families as well as a separate living room.  The hotel has 50 connecting room possibilities with a combination of standard, Deluxe rooms and Suites.  There is a VIB (very important baby) programme offering amenities and toys for children up to 12 as well as babysitting services.

Whilst the Executive Suites offer a feeling of grandeur with their high ceilings, fireplace and larger bathroom with twin sinks, the Vendôme Suite is huge at 200 sq m located in the 5th floor and has its own kitchen.  The décor is very different being black and modern but is incredibly tranquil and calm.  There are two bedrooms at each end with a spacious living room in the middle kitted out with a Bang & Olufsen TV, music system and DVD player.  You also get your own Sony Vaio PC and printer.  The bathroom is opulent with a large shower/steam room and bath Jacuzzi.  The balcony runs the length of the suite and overlooks the Place Vendôme, the large windows giving wonderful natural light.  The sloping ceiling gives it a very Parisian feel.  This is the smallest of the three Presidential suites, the other two having their own distinct décor.

Les Orchidées is the main restaurant where you can enjoy breakfast and lunch sitting under a fabulous glass roof.  Set Continental breakfast is €36, Continental Buffet €42 and American €48.

Pur’ is their Michelin star French restaurant set out in a large rotunda with open kitchen and fantastic chef’s table that can sit 4-6 people and has amazingly high comfortable chairs.  Le Bar is dark and subdued but very popular at the end of the day with locals with its very extensive bar menu including 90 plus whiskeys.  La Chiminée is the place to have afternoon tea with its cosy wonderful (almost Viking like) double sided fireplace and La Terrasse is open all year round (with heaters in winter) for those who want to be outside!

The exquisite La Spa has 4 treatment rooms, steam bath, whirlpool and relaxation area.  The smallish gym is well equipped with Life Fitness cardio machines, Concept2 rowing machines and Power Plate.
