Prince de Galles – A Luxury Collection Hotel

Hotel in Paris

4 Star Hotel

Starwood Hotels & Resorts announces that it will begin a major renovation of Le Prince de Galles in 2011. This iconic property will close its doors on February 15th for a 12-month period, during which time the hotel will be completely and meticulously refurbished.

The renovation, led by Interior Designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, will include guest rooms and suites, lobby and reception areas, meeting spaces, a brand new fitness and wellbeing centre and a Presidential suite on the 9th floor with private elevator access, outdoor terrace and panoramic views. The Regency Bar and Jardin des Cygnes restaurant will go through an extensive metamorphosis while the Patio will reclaim its golden past to become centre stage at the hotel

This historic and graceful 168 room (including 30 suites) hotel, offers guests a Parisian-styled base from which to explore the city.

Regular guests included Sir Winston Churchill and Marlene Dietrich! Today it is still popular with well-known celebrities and heads of state.

Each room is decorated in traditional French style with tones of either royal blue or yellow Toile de Jouy coupled together with modern amenities such as flat screen televisions, iPod docking stations and wireless internet access (19€ for 24 hours or 39€ for 3 days).

Standard rooms start at 25 sq m and come in a double or single size, the singles being ideal for people staying a couple of nights on business with an oversized single bed. Superior rooms are a more spacious 30 sq m, whilst Deluxe rooms are 35 sq m and offer plenty of closet space. The bathrooms are nicely decorated albeit a little on the small size

The Junior Suites are beautifully decorated offering plenty of space at 45 sq m, mahogany desk, your own DVD player and have wonderful bathrooms with Fragonard bathroom amenities.

The larger Suites are sheer elegance. The one I saw was decorated in shades of yellow and green and had its own recently renovated balcony. The beautiful traditional furniture adds to the graceful ambience. You’ll adore the large bathroom with its separate shower, twin sinks and oatmeal coloured marble tiles.

All rooms are well insulated from street noise with good double glazed windows.

Families are well catered for with plenty of rooms having interconnecting doors.

There is a well-equipped Fitness room with Technogym cardio equipment as well as free weights.

The Jardin des Cygnes offer guests authentic gourmet French cuisine in elegant surroundings. You can also enjoy the same menu outside on the patio on those warmer summer days. Continental breakfast costs 35€ whilst the full buffet is 45€.

The Regency Bar is traditionally old English in style with an intimate warm and cosy feel to it.

Guests tend to be more elegant and are a mixture of both business and leisure.
