Spanish Restaurant & Tapas Bar

Excellent Midtown up-market intimate Spanish Tapas Bar and Restaurant offering a warm greeting and great service from the friendly staff.

We enjoyed some great Tapas at lunch recently and eat at the bar which I love to do rather than sit down. They do however have some more informal tables and chairs at the front of the restaurant looking out on to 53rd Street, whilst the white table clothed area is to the rear and they even have a little enclosed terrace.

I particularly like being able to choose my Tapas from the chilled cabinets on the bar and from the daily specials board that included Brandada ($10.50), which was incredibly delicious; Piquillo Morcilla & Blackbeans ($13.50); leaks with ham ($8.50); Piquillo Peppers stuffed with goat's cheese and wrapped in Serrano Ham ($3.50).

The main menu is comprehensive and offers a tasting of cold Tapas for $18. Paellas start at $28 (they have five to choose from). A plate of fried Calamares, Garlic Shrimps and Chorizo ($24) whilst the grilled New Zealand Lamb chops with mint pesto and cous-cous ($29) might tempt you.

They have a selection of Spanish beers as well as Sherries and wine by the glass (from $8). You might like to try the Tasting of Sherries (Fino, Amontillo & Olorso) at $20.

We particularly liked the excellent strong espresso!

Lunch for two of us came to just under $85 including two beers and two glasses of wine (excluding tip).

You might enjoy the different pieces of artwork on the walls around the restaurant that are rotated on a two monthly basis and come from clients’ art collections and local artists. A nice touch!

Open for lunch Monday to Friday from 12 noon to 2:30pm; Tapas Monday to Friday from 12 noon to 11pm (Saturday from 5:30pm to 11pm).  Dinner Monday to Thursday from 5:30pm to 10pm; (10:30pm Friday and Saturday).  Closed Sunday.
