Italian Restaurant

Rustic, simple and good...

This Michelin Star restaurant has a warm, cosy and intimate atmosphere with incredibly friendly staff there to offer you advice as needed without being intrusive. We found the service to be excellent and were not left waiting for long intervals in between courses.

It is run by the same people who own the very successful Greek restaurant Molyvos, which I have been to on many occasion and love and the seafood restaurant Oceana, which I have not been to.

We enjoyed a glass of wine at their friendly bar before going to our table. There is a varied range of Italian wines available by the glass starting at a reasonable $8 up to $14. Half bottles range from $17 to $27 and full bottles from $28 to $54. House cocktails are priced at $12 should you fancy a Margarita or Martini perhaps.

The menu is comprehensive and offers a nice range of small plates for sharing such as the Bruchetta of the day or grilled shrimp Oreganata. Prices range from $7 to $15.

The Appetizer menu is also tempting with Tuna Tartare, being my favourite or perhaps grilled Octopus or Crispy Calamari Salad with prices ranging from $10 to $15.

Their pastas are fabulously delicious and I my Ravioli Del Plin stuffed with Spring Peas, Mint, Ricotta, Parmesan Cream Sauce hit the mark! Prices range from $21 to $24.

The Entrees are equally tempting with perhaps the crispy soft-shell crab with a Pomegranate Yogurt of the breaded veal scaloppini. Prices range from $26 to $30. They also have a daily whole fish choice.

The Dessert choice is as you would expect – naughty but nice! How does Ricotta Cheescake or Amaretto Mouse sound? Prefer to go for the healthy option? Then they have a fruit platter with the seasonal fruits and a selection of three Italian Cheeses. Prices range from $9 to $12. Whatever you decide to choose, the selection is wide and typically Italian!

As it was Restaurant Week when we were there, they were offering a great value $35 three course menu and if you wanted to add wine pairing it was an extra $20, which would be well worth it.
