Hotel in New York
Charmingly traditional hotel with a club feel situated in a great mid-town location
Spread over 17 floors, this 118 room hotel (with 57 deluxe rooms and 54 suites) is a great find for anyone who wants a home away from home in midtown Manhattan with all the amenities included in the price.
The rooms are tastefully decorated with classic cherry furniture reminiscent of an English Manor or comfortable cosy club. Some rooms even have a small bookshelf with a selection of books to add to that clubby ambience.
Every room has a full kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave and Keuring coffee maker and pods. They are all equipped with large flat screen televisions and personal DVD player. As well as having plenty of closet space and drawers so you can actually unpack. All rooms also have a personal safe, bathrobe and slippers.
The beds and pillows are incredibly comfortable and have duvets covered with Egyptian cotton linen. I also found my room to be very quiet with hardly any street noise, which is rare for mid-town Manhattan and I was not disturbed with corridor noise outside my room, a problem one can get in larger hotels. My room was cleaned immaculately every day of my stay!
The bathrooms are well equipped in an oatmeal coloured marble, some even have whirlpool baths or rain showers and all feature Penhaligon Quercus bathroom amenities. I found the showers to be good and powerful! There were two huge mirrors in my bathroom.
Junior Suites have wooden floors in the entrance hall and then carpet in the bedrooms. There is a sofa, chair and coffee table as well as small round table and 2 chairs.
Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast in Ristorante Abboccato, located on the ground floor. The included breakfast is a little limited in choice, however if you choose something off their menu, it is delicious. I had the most wonderfully tasty omelette one morning!
Free Wi-Fi is available to guests with access in every room. There is also a small well-equipped fitness room for those not wanting to venture out running in Central Park.
Clientele are a mixture of business and leisure guests with a high percentage of regulars.
Families and children are also welcome and suites can accommodate up to 4 people.
It is worth noting that The Blakely operates their own Repeat Guest Program, which kicks in after your first repeat stay. I also like their pricing policy, which offers reasonable rates even at busy times in the city and the ability to cancel 24 hours before.
