Hotel Elysée

Hotel in New York

Boutique Hotel

One of the friendliest hotels I have stayed at in New York with a great Midtown location.

The staff are incredibly hospitable and helpful and always willing to go the extra mile. When the fruit had run out at breakfast one morning, they brought me my own personal bowl!

Spread over 14 floors, this 103 room (87 deluxe rooms, 3 junior suites and 13 suites) hotel has a classical European (French) feel to it as the name implies. The Deluxe rooms are quiet and generous in dimension (350 sq ft) and the 10 king bedded suites all have a separate lounge area and kitchenette (700 sq ft). All of the rooms are fitted with flat screen televisions and personal video and DVD/CD players and all have beautifully laid out marble bathrooms with Gilchrist & Soames amenities. There is also plenty of closet space and draws so you can unpack, which was much appreciated as I was staying 7 nights and had two suitcases...

My king sized bed was extremely comfortable and the four pillows offered a choice of firmness, which was very welcome, as I like a very sift pillow.

Rates include a really good and healthy complimentary continental breakfast in the warm and cosy Club Room, which I loved. Wine, champagne and hors d’oeuvres are served weekday evenings from 5pm to 8pm. There is free high speed Wi Fi in every room and complimentary passes are available to the nearby New York Sports Club on 59th Street between Park and Madison Avenues.

If you like the personal touch with a nicer clientele of guests, this wonderfully suitable hotel is perfect for a romantic weekend away or for business. You will also find that a lot of the staff speak French.

The Monkey Bar & Grill
Having re-opened in 2009 and with a list of well known patrons, the Hotel’s Monkey Bar has a legendary reputation in New York City and is well worth a visit (please see separate review).

For reservations you can e-mail: reservations@monkeybarnewyork.com and guests of the hotel are also able to enjoy many of the Bar’s signature selections through the hotel’s in-room dining menu!
