The Lanesborough
Hotel in London
5-Star Hotel
Steeped in history (formerly The Wellington Hospital) and ideally located in Knightsbridge, this luxury hotel is home away from home for its regular guests.
The Lanesborough's 93 rooms, including 43 suites are extremely well appointed with very traditionally English décor, Regency period furnishings and 19th century artwork, yet offering the very latest built in technology. For example every room comes equipped with a Sony VAIO laptop and high speed Wi-Fi and Flat Screen TV. All room also have 24 hour access to a Butler and I like the fact that the fresh fruit and water in your room is replenished every day. Don’t worry if you forgot your power adaptor either as the rooms have UK, US and European power points.
The Deluxe and Executive rooms start at 310 sq ft and go up to 450 sq ft (30-45 sq m) and come with either a king or queen size bed. The Junior Suites are between 530-600 sq ft (50-60 sq m) and have an open sitting room area. The bathrooms in the suites are luxuriously decorated with Carerra marble and have both a Jacuzzi/Spa bath and separate walk-in shower as well as his and hers vanities and bidet. The bathroom amenities are Lady Primrose.
The Apsley Suites at 620 sq ft (65 sq m) are ideal for families with children as they can become two bedroom suites with adjoining rooms. Twin bedded rooms, rollaway beds and cots are also available and children are well looked after with kids’ amenities such as small bathrobes and slippers.
The Grosvenor Suites at a large 840 sq ft (75 sq m) have views of Constitutional Arch, whilst the Buckingham Suites at 900 sq ft (80 sq m) have wood panelled walls and a real cosy feel with a fireplace feature. There are then just two larger suites, the apartment sized 3 bedroom Royal Suite and the family sized Lanesborough Suite with its 4 bedrooms, dining room and kitchen.
Despite the hotel’s location on a busy road, the triple glazing is very effective in keeping the noise out and I love the wooden parquet floors and high ceilings. There is plenty of wardrobe and draw space so you can unpack and feel right at home and I do like the two different types of umbrellas in the umbrella stand by the front door in each room (a large golfing and traditional one).
The Garden Room is The Lanesborough’s wonderful cigar bar, quite unique in London, whilst the traditional bookcase lined Library Bar with its roaring fire and Gentleman's Club ambience is a popular place to meet up after work or before dinner and enjoy a cocktail or two. Some of you however may prefer the relaxed and cosy Regency styled Withdrawing Room with its fireplace. The bright Apsleys with its glass roof is Heinz Beck's Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant offering Meditarranean cuisine and an impressive wine list.
The small gym is well-equipped with LifeFitness machines and some free weights as well as 3 treatment rooms in the Spa Studio, using La Prairie and Ytsara products.

Traditionally English with wonderful Regency furnishings and original artwork but with high-tech touches. This is your cosy home away from home.
