The spa is one of many delights found at One Aldwych, a charming five-star hotel located in the heart of London.

The luxurious health club, run by an impressively friendly and professional team, offers a first class service which combines elegance and comfort. You will leave feeling completely revitalised.

On arrival, there is an array of fruits and flavoured waters, including peppermint and cucumber and orange and lemon, as well as a health form to fill in which allows guests to personalise their treatment to benefit their particular needs.

It is undoubtedly the ideal place to unwind. I sampled the wide range of facilities on offer, starting my indulgent afternoon with a soothing swim in the exquisite pool. Pumped with oxygen instead of chlorine and 18m in length, the pool is lovely to relax in, set at the ideal temperature of 28 degrees. The underwater music and projections of clouds and fish made the experience fun and refreshing, whilst the sauna and steam room placed me in an exceptionally peaceful state, ready for my treatment.

Wrapped in a snug dressing gown and slippers, I was escorted to a separate room with the perfect ambience to relax: slow calming music, low level lighting and a warm heated bed, absolute paradise!

Rim, my masseuse, was incredibly attentive and professional, checking the bed was a comfortable temperature for me. She began my 60 minute full body massage by placing a hot steamed towel over my body and massaging nourishing nutriv oil into my skin, infused with lavender, marjoram and ginger which I was told is good for the muscles.

My state of tranquillity deepened as Rim gently worked at my neck and shoulders with just the right amount of pressure I had asked for, relieving all the built up tension. Having frequently had to deal with shoulder problems, it was truly a relief for someone to attend to it with such meticulousness. I couldn’t have felt more at ease, with my eyes closed throughout the whole experience, I felt every part of my body was attended to right down to each individual fingertip and toe.

As my massage came to an end, I lay in a restful state as my ‘Huff the Puff’ facial prepared. Who hasn’t wished for a miracle eye treatment that helps to reduce puffiness and dark circles? As promised, my eyes were left glowing and refreshed. Rim began by massaging a main cleanser into my face and tolerance cleanser into my eyes. This helped to remove dead skin and open up my pores, providing a gentle conditioning wash. Next, my skin was thoroughly exfoliated with an enzyme peel. Furthermore, as I had highlighted that I sometimes experience sinus problems, Rim concentrated on the right pressure points throughout my facial to help relieve this problem.

The eye mask created a wonderful cooling sensation that made me feel incredibly refreshed and light. This was left to set for 10 minutes, during which I was treated with a lovely shoulder oil massage.

The whole experience was utterly serene and to top it off, I then enjoyed a delicious cocktail from the hotel’s new Autumn Collection in the beautifully designed Lobby Bar. ‘Blue Delight’ was my choice and it was just divine!
