An excellent fine dining Italian restaurant in a wonderful warm and vibrant setting with first rate attentive service.

There is a bright and comfortable bar near the entrance where you can also enjoy the full à la carte menu.  This gives way to a large and airy restaurant with white table clothed tables well spaced out.

What I like about Theo Randall is that Theo is actually in the kitchen about 80 per cent of the time unlike many celebrity chef restaurants, so you really do get the magic touch from the master himself!

On the first Saturday of every month Theo offers cookery classes.  He will pick you up at 9:30am give you a 2 hour cooking demo including tasting, so it is a very interactive affair.  You then do some wine tasting with the Sommelier and enjoy a 3 course lunch and of course come away with a signed book. What a fun way to spend a Saturday.

So on to the important stuff, my lunch!  I really liked the look of their excellent Prix Fixe menu which offers a good selection of Antipasti, Primi, Secondi, Contorni and Dolci.  So I started with a very tasty Bruschetta di granchio with fresh Devon crab with aioli, pagnotta bruschetta and mixed leaves.  I then followed with the Salmone arrosto.  The organic Scottish salmon fillet came with zucchini trifolati, datterini tomatoes, Italian spinach, capers and Taggiasche olives.  The fish was cooked to perfection and I thoroughly enjoyed what was a pretty healthy meal I thought.  I then went and spoilt it all with a fabulous dessert assortment!  If you fancy meat they also offer chargrilled Longhorn beef sirloin and for the vegetarians you might like the organic eggs with zucchini and ricotta or mixed green Ravioli.  The risotto with squid, sea bass and monkfish looked interesting too.  Scallops are their signature dish and on the dessert front the Amalfi lemon tart is their signature dessert.

There is also a special Tasting Menu which changes on a daily basis and tends to include the signature dishes such as the scallops and lemon tart.

The wine list is extensive with wines some 250 plus wines from 14 countries although as you would perhaps expect, 60 per cent are Italian.  They have some great wines from Süd Tirol, Toscana, France, the US, South America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.  Wines are available by the glass, half bottle or of course full bottle.

The Prix Fixe lunch menu is also available pre and post Theatre (5:45pm to 7pm; 10pm to 11:15pm).

The bathrooms are pretty funky too and have wonderful Elemis toiletries!

Theo Randall is open for lunch Monday to Friday from 12noon to 3pm and for dinner from 6pm to 11pm.

Saturday the restaurant is only open for dinner from 6pm to 11pm and is closed all day Sunday.
