Hyatt Regency Jersey City
Hotel in Jersey City
4-Star / 4 Diamond Hotel
The Hyatt Regency in Jersey City is located right on The Hudson and offers the most spectacular views of New York Harbour and Lower Manhattan. I could see the Empire State Building from my room and The Statue of Liberty at breakfast.
This offers an alternative to staying in Manhattan with great rates and views. You are literally only 5 minutes away from the World Trade Centre Subway by the PATH train which is located right outside the hotel at Exchange Place.
The 351 rooms including 8 Suites were refurbished in 2010 and are well-equipped. Standard guestrooms start from a pretty generous, by New York standards 400 sq ft. All the rooms have a good sized double closet and chest of draws under the large 37 inch Flat Screen HD TV, an integrated large luggage rack, full length mirror plus all the essentials such as a personal safe, iron and ironing board and iHome Alarm Clock Radio. You won’t find a mini-bar though but rather a decent sized refrigerator, which I prefer to be honest. A nice touch is the large L-shape Chaise Long in each room. For those of you who have to work such as yours truly, you will love the oversized desk and proper ergonomic work chair that adjusts for height – a real bonus for me I must say! The rooms are all Wi-Fi equipped and there is a small daily charge.
I slept really well as it is much quieter than being in the city and the Hyatt Grand beds are just so comfortable. You can open the windows should you want some fresh air however the air conditioning is surprisingly quiet (I usually have to turn it off at night). The bathrooms are a good size and have showers over the bath with the exception of the Suites which have a separate walk in shower. They are well lit and have plenty of counter space and shelves under the vanity where the copious amount of towels are stored.
I was impressed at just how well kept the rooms were and the high level of cleanliness. The maid service is excellent and I found out that the rooms are deep cleaned once a month.
As well has having twin bedded (2 double beds) The Hyatt also offers Hypo-Allergenic Rooms which is a nice feature for those who suffer from allergies.
For families you might prefer to take one of their sumptuous and individually decorated Suites, which start at around 800 sq ft and go up to 1,500 sq ft. You also get a balcony. The regular rooms are decorated in a mix of light beige and dark wood with splashes of yellow. The Suites on the other hand have wonderful red tiled bathrooms, wooden flooring, trendy design basins and a rich mix of reds, burnt orange and dark wood. The Bridal Suite even has a wet bar area and very trendy Flat screen TV that swivels in the cut out area in the wall dividing the bedroom and living area.
There is a well-equipped gym with Life Fitness cardio machines and free weights and a swimming pool with large windows overlooking the water and Statue of Liberty – what a great way to work out!
Vu Restaurant & Lounge
The Hyatt breakfast in ‘Vu’ is excellent as is the service and I enjoyed reading the paper with my healthy Yoghurt Parfait with fresh berries, croissant and fresh honey from the bees on the roof, orange juice and espresso, gazing out of the large panoramic windows at Lower Manhattan and The Statue of Liberty. You can choose from the à la carte menu or their American Buffet with a great selection of hot and cold dishes, fresh fruit and juices, home farmed honey and pastries.
I would also recommend stopping by for one of their excellent cocktails at the bar in the Vu Lounge.

I have stayed at the hotel twice now and will come back again. I feel very relaxed and comfortable and am well looked after by the superb staff. You can't beat it for the views of Lower Manhattan.
Great value for money compared with Manhattan. Continental Breakfast good value at $12.95 or the American Buffet at $21.95.
