Sopwell House Spa
Health Spa in Hertfordshire
Luxury Health Spa
The Spa at Sopwell House is a little luxury oasis tucked away inside this 4-star hotel in the Hertfordshire countryside.
Although the spa is primarily for hotel guests, it is also open to the public who can join as members in their own right or simply come and enjoy a Day Spa relaxing by the pool and enjoying a treatment or two.
The Spacstudio designed spa has Japanese undertones and uses warm natural materials to help create a soothing atmosphere. It is also large and has good sized fitness room with cardio machines, free weights and a studio for classes. As well as a 14.5 metre indoor swimming pool that looks out over the hotel’s terrace and lawns to the back of the hotel there is also a children’s pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as well as curved mosaic-lined experience showers and heated mosaic seat.
There are 14 elegant treatment rooms that provide complete silence and tranquillity and the chance to switch off, relax and put yourself in the capable hands of one of the highly experienced therapists where you can enjoy one of their treatments which use either ESPA or Clarins products.
As I was staying at the hotel, it was just a short walk across from my Mews Apartment to the spa which is located just behind the reception area in the main house.
Holly my therapist was waiting for me and led me to a wonderfully quiet and serene treatment room where she asked me some questions so that my treatment could be tailored to my individual needs and skin type. The stresses of driving around the M25 in quite the most awful weather soon faded away as I was treated to a full body massage followed by a special Clarins facial designed specifically for men.
It did not take me long to relax as Holly got to work on my very tight back muscles as I listened to the soothing background music, imagining I was relaxing on some tropical beach somewhere far away. Some 50 minute later I woke up from my tropical paradise feeling refreshed, repaired and ready for my facial.
I was first given an ESPA Invigorating Facewash followed by a Clarifying Skinscrub to remove any dead skin and impurities. Following a post shave rescue my face was treated to some hydration and brightener and finished off with an Age-Rebel Eye Hydrator.
There are a very wide range of treatments available at the spa, from Hot Stone and Aromatherapy massages to a deeply relaxing Herbal Thai Compress Massage. For those of you wanting to soften your skin then the ESPA Salt & Oil Scrub may be for you, leaving your skin nourished, smooth and hydrated.
You can of course get a manicure and pedicure and the spa also offers a range of Holistic Therapies that include Reflexology and an Indian Head Massage. But for me, I left the spa feeling relaxed and invigorated, ready to enjoy a good dinner in their Brasserie, knowing I would sleep extremely well that night.
