Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera Hotel
Hotel in Dubrovnik
5-Star Resort Hotel
This upscale business and leisure hotel overlooks the Adriatic coast, by a cove at Mlini, midway between Dubrovnik Airport and Dubrovnik’s walled Old Town.
The attractive Dalmatian city has seen a marked upsurge in visitor numbers over the past couple of summers and there has been a pressing need for more beds in and around Dubrovnik. The Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera Hotel, goes some way to addressing this. The hotel’s soft launch was on 28th August while the official, gala opening took place on 2nd October 2015. Unlike several properties in the region, it will remain open throughout the winter.
Guestrooms are comfortable and spacious. Deluxe category rooms have sea views and, like all of the rooms within this property, feature the Sheraton’s cozy Sweet Sleeper Bed. A double-glazed sliding door leads onto the private balcony overlooking the freeform swimming pool. The rooms have air-conditioning, are carpeted, and are well sound-proofed.
Business guests will be pleased to see the rooms feature a sizable desk and have comfy chairs by reading lights, making it easy to get on with work or review documents with a drink from the mini-bar or a hot drink made in the room. The Wi-Fi internet access is rapid and reliable, both on the balcony and at the desk, meaning it’s possible to push on with emails while enjoying fresh air.
A large, flat-screen television is mounted on the wall by the foot of the bed. The wardrobe holds a safe large enough to hold a laptop plus a professional SLR digital camera kit complete with three additional lenses and a host of accessories. The roomy bathrooms in the Deluxe category rooms have twin wash basins, feature a shaving mirror, have a bath with a shower and also a walk-in shower.
The hotel spa covers 1,500 square metres and features four treatment rooms. It has a room with sea views for Pilates and yoga. In addition to the freeform outdoor pools, including one for kids, the spa area has an indoor swimming pool plus a sauna. The fitness room is open 24/7 and is stocked with free weights plus workstations. Cardiovascular training machines and Swiss balls are also provided. There are also two tennis courts.
The hotel’s main restaurant is on the ground floor, by the lobby where the impressive breakfast buffet is laid out, giving guests the option of sitting indoors or taking their food onto the terrace. In 2016 an à la carte restaurant, Lungo Mare, will open in the neighbouring villa.
At the elegant Piano Bar, where live music is performed each evening, a tasting menu pairs snacks with premium wines and beers. A full range of cocktails, beers, wine and spirits is available. On warm evenings it’s possible to sit outdoors with drinks and enjoy the ambiance of an evening close to the lapping waters of the Adriatic.
The library has a fireplace in its centre and sofas and armchairs where guests can relax with a book and a drink. Anyone looking to share the company of others can spend time in the Games Room.
As you’d expect from a property aiming to attract business guests the Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera Hotel has conferencing and meeting facilities. The Grand Ballroom, which can host up to 1,000 guests, can be partitioned into three rooms. It’s the largest conference room within the Dubrovnik region and makes use of natural light. The room is 6.7 metres high and is without pillars.
The hotel is a short stroll from the sea and has a private beach area for guests. Sun loungers are also ranged around the outdoor pools.
This new hotel looks set to attract discerning business and leisure clients.
