Max’s Harvest is a real find in the art district of Delray Beach known as Pineapple Grove.

It’s the first restaurant of its kind in Palm Beach County featuring farm to table food. All beef, chicken and fish are raised humanely free of steroids, hormones and antibiotics.  And very effort is made to use local farmers who respect the environment and grow natural and organic foods.

Owned by renowned restaurateur, Dennis Max, who is credited for bringing California cuisine to South Florida, he operates several very successful restaurants, including Max’s Grille in Boca Raton.

Executive Chef Chris Miracolo commands a busy kitchen.  Having started at an early age, Chris has worked in such venerable places as the Mansion on Turtle Creek and trained with the likes of Norman Van Aiken.  He joined Max’s family at Max’s Grille where chef and co-owner of Max’s Harvest, Patrick Broadhead, prepares over 800 dinners in season at the busy Boca Raton mainstay.

While I typically like to dine in different restaurants, I frequently enjoy dinner at Max’s Harvest.  I’m fond of saying it’s always a party in the mouth because of the interesting mix of flavors in each dish.   On a recent night, I started with the Heirloom Tomato Bisque - what a difference good tomatoes make in this old American favorite.  What’s great is that you have a selection of small as well as large plates to choose from.  This makes it a great place to bring a group of friends and get a taste of everything. There is always a cheese plate.  Humbolt Fog from Cypress Grove, California is a delicious goat cheese with ash.  The roasted beet salad is the best I’ve ever tasted and the ricotta gnocchi transports you to Italy.  For the larger plates, we had the Miso-Honey glazed Loch Duart Salmon flown in from Northern Scotland topped with stir fried vegetables.  This dish is clearly a crowd favorite, as is the Forever Braised Short Ribs made from Akausi beef, a Japanese Wagyu, low in cholesterol.

Don’t miss Max’s Harvest’s signature dessert - sugary homemade donuts.  They take you back to your childhood!
