Grand Hyatt Berlin
Hotel in Berlin
A contemporary and modern luxury hotel in the heart of Berlin.
This 342 room hotel including 16 suites, offers a taste of luxury mixed with contemporary art which can be found on each of its 8 floors. Rooms start from a generous 38 sq m and go up to 210 sq m. The standard rooms are well-equipped and have some clever touches such as the large full length mirror built in behind the sliding door to the bathroom and Japanese shower/wet room concept whereby you can literally let your bath overflow. I love the large bathrooms with their grey heated tiled floors and marble walls and Second TV. You are treated to Aveda amenities and plenty of counter space. Deluxe bathrooms have his and hers sinks. They offer good deep closets plus I counted 2 drawers and I liked the home touches such as a few books on the bookshelves (in different languages). All rooms have excellent Bang & Olufsen flat screen TVs and iPod docking stations that connect to the TV.
The rooms are spacious, uncluttered and calming with clean lines and almost minimalist with a lovely marble floored entrance hall. They have tried to use natural materials where possible and the décor is clean with white walls with reddish/orange carpets. I do like the Asian style white shades on the windows and I found the rooms to be very quiet ensuring a good night’s sleep thanks to the good double glazed windows that do open. All the rooms also enjoy plenty of natural light. There is a decent work area with UK and foreign power points and good desk chair and Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel at a fee. The fabulously comfortable Hyatt beds have simple white striped cotton sheets and duvets. The daily fresh fruit and water in your room is a nice touch.
The hotel does cater for families and has a number of adjoining rooms, toys for children, kids’ menus and baby sitting on request.
The hotel has a very nice Grand Club Lounge on its one Club Floor, offering breakfast and evening snacks and waitress service. Otherwise a full breakfast is offered in the excellent VOX Restaurant. There is a Business Centre with free Internet access available.
The Hyatt also has two other restaurants, Tizian Lounge & Restaurant, serving a local and international cuisine and Mesa, a fun relaxed restaurant offering German cuisine. VOX Bar was also voted one of the best hotel bars in Germany in 2010.
Club Olympus Spa & Fitness is their fabulous Spa on the 8th floor and is one of the largest spas in Berlin. It is complimentary for hotel guests.
