Turnberry, A Luxury Collection Resort

Hotel in Ayrshire

5-Star Hotel, Resort & Spa

Turnberry Resort and Spa in Ayrshire, Scotland is tantalizing in beauty as one approaches the opulence and grandeur of a vast white hotel with its steep red tiled roof set on a plateau, crowning the most iconic golf courses in history.

As one approaches Turnberry, along the Maidens Road with rolling green grass across views of the Irish Sea, the dramatic islands of Arran and Ailsa falls into the background - a sense of calmness is prevalent. This is a perfect destination for relaxation, only one hour from Glasgow International Airport. Its location is breathtaking and one can only be awestruck by its presence. The Taj Mahal of Scotland!

Turnberry was first built in 1906, commissioned by the Architect, James Miller to create a 100 bedroom hotel, accommodating a light railway to serve the hotel between Alloway and Girvan, dedicated to preserve the natural habitat of the area’s staggering coastline. The hotel was established as a successful venture with a scenic coastal railway similar to today’s Orient Express where travelers could embark on a sleeper train from London and disembark on the golf courses of Turnberry the next morning! Unfortunately, the coastline railway was closed in 1942, leaving the mainline rail at Alloway junction.

A land bound by sea and marked by history, Turnberry Resort and Spa has evolved over the years since its opening in 1906. Today, this luxury hotel offers an ideal sanctuary to relax in the numerous facilities on offer in the hotel, including an activity centre and bespoke spa with an outdoor terrace overlooking the sea. A reviving cocktail of rejuvenating qualities.

Having undertaken recent renovation in part, Turnberry has 207 bedrooms including classic, family, deluxe ocean view and four historical suites, named after the four Open Championship winners at Turnberry. Newly refurbished rooms are decorated with contemporary warmth and traditionally Scottish interiors comprising of oak flooring, rugs, blankets and sumptuous bathrooms with soft toweling robes, slippers and an array of fine toiletries to rejuvenate the mind and soul. Awaken to rooms filled with natural light pervading through the large sea view windows and soft lighting setting the mood at night.

Turnberry is an oasis of fertile land with colourful foliage and dramatic scenery; an inspirational spot to relax and enjoy the amenities within the hotel’s 800 acres and surrounding areas of Ayrshire.
