The breezy hut hidden behind tropical plants smells wonderfully of Coco de Mer, a spectacular view on the perfect tropical bay is stretching out in front of me.

After a relaxing massage a golf cart is already there to take me to my room. But because the Seychelles are no ordinary island and The Four Seasons is no ordinary hotel, my room is in fact a house with a swimming pool and spacious terrace overlooking the turquois Indian ocean.

The Seychelles archipelago, with its central and biggest island Mahe where the Four Seasons is situated is a paradise for celebrity honeymooners including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and George and Amal Clooney. But as I witnessed during my stay, one can find paradise in various personal circumstances. I travelled with my husband and two year old son and we feared it could prove a bad decision to have taken him with us. Quite the contrary. The Four Seasons is very much a family hotel with all facilities designed to make your children happy, including a wonderful beach, great kids club, helpful staff and excellent choice of local and European food.

During my trip I was pregnant, which proved to be no challenge either. It turned out that The Four Seasons is the first hotel on the Seychelles that has introduced a babymoon program specially designed for expectant mothers, including additional services, products and menu to make the stay for pregnant ladies (and their partners) even more enjoyable.

The room / house we stayed in was wonderfully spacious. Its highlight is the bathroom with possibly the biggest bath tub I have ever seen. There is a small swimming pool and spacious terrace with sunbed to enjoy the truly spectacular views.

The hotel staff were friendly, especially the golf cart drivers. The resort is vast and you might find the fact that you have to be driven everywhere, annoying at the beginning but soon you will start enjoying the short ride through the exotic gardens of the hotel.

One of my favourite parts of the day was breakfast, served on one of the highest points of the resort offering both great food and dramatic views that seemed to change daily.

During the day we usually ate at the beach – simple and good food, although pricey, and in the evening, we enjoyed the lively programme sometimes offering theme evenings with special food and music. It would usually be a joyful end of a happy day full of sunshine and laughter.

Browsing through our holiday photos, I am surprised at the lack of photos from the Seychelles – there are hardly any. Thinking about it, I was too busy enjoying my holiday to photograph it. What remains are wonderful holiday memories for everybody for this is a resort that offers the privacy of a boutique hotel, a family hotel that hasn’t lost its romance.
