San Francisco is surrounded by North Bay and East Bay North to the north, East Bay South to the East and Peninsula and South Bay to the south.  The city is also surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay as well as a number of islands including the famous prison Alcatraz, Treasure Island, Yerba Buena, Red Rock and Angel Islands.

The city is well known for its diverse culture and mix of excellent restaurants and bars.

Transportation

San Francisco International Airport is the closest airport, which can be easily reached by Public transport operated by BART with a rapid rail service from and to San Mateo County, San Francisco and the East Bay.  The free AirTrain will take you from the terminals to the Garage G/BART Station.  Caltrain has a rail service between San Francisco and San Jose and SamTrans offers a 24-hour Bus Service between the airport to San Mateo County as well as San Francisco and Palo Alto.
