San Diego Symphony // 100 neighbourhoods // San Diego Zoo // Old Globe Theatre // Balboa Park // Population: 1.3million...
Hints for getting around the city by our local resident Carrie James.
San Diego is the eighth-largest city in the United States and second-largest city in California, after Los Angeles.
The city contains more than 100 different neighbourhoods and Downtown San Diego is located on San Diego Bay. The city itself lies on deep canyons, which have been left wild and hills separating its mesas, where you will find most of the homes, creating small pockets of natural parkland scattered throughout the city and giving it a hilly geography.
