Muscat // Portuguese Colonisation // One of the Hottest Climates in the World...

Located in southwest Asia on the south-eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman is an Arab state known officially as the Sultanate of Oman. Its capital is Muscat on the northeast coast.

Its neighbours are the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the northwest, Saudi Arabia to its west and Yemen to the southwest.

Oman’s history dates back many centuries and towards the end of the 17th century, it was a powerful empire in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean.

Oman is known for having one of the hottest climates in the world and gets very little rainfall. Temperatures can reach as high as 122°F (50°C) at the hottest time of the year, which is from May to September.
