LA is the largest city in California and is only second to New York City in its population numbers. It is nicknamed the ‘City of Angels’ and is rich in culture, entertainment, media and of course fashion.
Hollywood makes it the entertainment capital of the world and many Hollywood actors and actresses have made their home in the city giving it a rich mix of cultures and wealth. It is a popular city for students with both UCLA (The University of California, Los Angeles) and USC (University of Southern California).
The warm year round climate makes it a comfortable place to live as well as a popular tourist destination with temperatures averaging between 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. January, the coolest month still sees temperatures around 59 to 75 degrees and in August, the hottest month expect to see temperatures around 80 to 90 degrees.
Culture Los Angeles has over 840 museums and art galleries and is of course home to the Academy Awards with perhaps more artists, musicians, actors, dancers, writers and film makers than any other city in the world.
Restaurants and Shopping LA has a multitude of shopping malls, stores and boutiques. The most famous being Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. There are numerous excellent restaurants offering every type of cuisine imaginable.
Ground Transportation LA has a comprehensive subway system as well as a commuter rail system (Metrolink). Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the main airport and is large, being the 6th busiest airport in the world and 3rd busiest in the US.
