Kerala is located on the Malabar Coast on the south west coast of India and was created as a state in November 1956 as a result of the States Reorganisation Act. Kerala was originally known as Keralam.

This part if India was well-known for its spices and was exporting spices from as early as 3000 BCE. It exports natural rubber, pepper, tea, coffee, coconuts and cashew nuts.
