With the UK tourism industry reaching approximately £105 billion in revenue each year, it’s no surprise that travel accessories have become extremely popular in recent years.

What's more, a recent study by ‘Co-operative Insurance’ revealed that female travellers over-pack by almost double for their annual holiday. Needless to say travel accessories may add to us over-packing.

I recently visited the newly refurbished Stafford Hotel in St James, London.   It is tucked away in a quiet Mews and is a hidden away little gem popular with American visitors.  The main house was in need of updating and I really like what they have done to freshen it up and give it a more modern feel.  At the same time they have opened up the old restaurant and lounge area to create a bright new restaurant.

I finally made it to Assaggini yesterday for lunch with a friend who also writes for Our Man On The Ground and has her own great Blog.  Juan, the very hospitable manager has put together a very professional and delightful team who looked after us extremely well.  We love the ambience which is fresh, clean and trendy.  This part of London around Haymarket and Lower Regent Street was crying out for some decent restaurants.

I visited the Cuckoo Club in London's Mayfair yesterday evening to do a review of their excellent restaurant.  It is very eclectic and international with a youngish crowd.  I think we may possibly have been the only Brits there last night.  The girls at the table behind us spoke only French and a well-known US actress arrived a little later and sat just across from us with her boyfriend and friends.

I visited the brand new St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London today which opened its doors on 6th May 2011 and was impressed with the work that has been carried out to restore this wonderful old station hotel to its former glory.  The 245 room hotel is divided in to two parts with 60 rooms in the original Chambers side and 187 newly created rooms in the Barlow side.
