I was fortunate enough to go to to the Swimming Championships 2012 Selection Trials at the Aquatics Centre in the impressive new Olympic Park out in Stratford on Saturday.

From what I could see most of the Olympic Park looks almost complete...

It was fun trying to get to Kensington High Street yesterday afternoon for a meeting.  I discovered that the District and Circle lines are closed until 27th August for upgrade work!  Apparently August is a quiet time.  You could have fooled me with the amount of tourists I saw looking totally confused faced with the closure.  The only alternative was to take a bus, and given that it was 30 degrees yesterday and London buses are not air conditioned, I arrived at my meeting late and hot! 

Olympic Countdown Clock Counts Backwards

Our man on the ground in London informs us that the brand new Olympic Countdown Clock in Trafalgar Square stopped working less than 24 hours after it was unveiled to the world.  In fact it started counting backwards!  The other side of the clock was however working apparently, showing the countdown to the Paralympics.  We understand that it is now working properly and counting down to the games in 499 days time.
