Fourth Plinth’s Latest Resident
The Fourth Plinth in London's Trafalgar Square has a new resident. At the end of last month HMS Victory in a bottle was replaced by a giant child on a rocking horse.
The bronze sculpture is 4.1 metres high and has been greeted with mixed reactions by visitors to Trafalgar Square.

The trendy May Fair Bar in London’s fashionable Mayfair played host to DJ, model and singer-songwriter Jade Williams (aka Sunday Girl) on Sunday evening as part of Fashion Week’s many activities.
Jade Williams will be DJ-ing at The May Fair Bar every Sunday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, supported by a group of celebrity guest DJs.
Anndra Neen at The Dorchester
I was invited to a private viewing of the 2011 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize winners’ jewellery and accessories line at London’s Dorchester Hotel last week.
Anndra Neen was launched in 2009 by Phoebe and Annette Stephens, the two sisters behind this successful brand. Their autumn and winter 2012 collection will be on display at Hôtel Plaza Athénée during Paris Fashion Week in March.

Gin & Jazz Night Launches at InterContinental Park Lane
Starting this coming Thursday 17th November, the InterContinental London Park Lane will be hosting a monthly Jazz evening accompanied by a celebration of classic cocktails to compliment the golden age of Jazz.
This Thursday’s event will see the critically acclaimed Benoit Viellefon and his Orchestra.
London Jazz Festival Week 11th to 20th November
Today kicks off the 19th London Jazz Festival Week and it promises to be bigger than ever with 80 gigs and some 700 artists set to play. It will be running over 10 nights.
If you weren’t aware London in fact has one of the biggest Jazz scenes in Europe with clubs all around the London area.

New York Recovers from Hurricane Irene

The streets of New York City were empty last night as I made my way back from dinner at around 11:30pm. The wind had picked up and it was pouring with rain as I clung to my umbrella. By this morning Hurricane Irene had been and gone and the high winds and destruction that were threatened thankfully did not materialise. Other parts of the East Coast were not so lucky with reported power outages and plenty of flooding.
New York Braces itself for Hurricane Irene
For the first time in history, the entire New York transit system shut down at 12 noon today, meaning that all subway stations were closed, no buses are running and the three New York airports are closing down later this evening for outgoing flights with the majority of incoming flights already cancelled. Parts of lower Manhattan have been evacuated for fear of flooding. My friends who live down there are battening everything down as they have not been evacuated and are only one street away from the streets that have been!
