It appears that the travel industry is embracing new technology and entering a new age. Being a market leader requires you to move with the times, and this is what British Airwaves have done. BA announced that iPads will be provided to their cabin crew...
I cannot think of anything more exhilarating than travelling to a new destination for the first time. Throughout my own first time travels I have picked-up useful tips, which I will gladly share with you. Firstly, find an exchange bureau that will give you a good rate.
The streets of New York City were empty last night as I made my way back from dinner at around 11:30pm. The wind had picked up and it was pouring with rain as I clung to my umbrella. By this morning Hurricane Irene had been and gone and the high winds and destruction that were threatened thankfully did not materialise. Other parts of the East Coast were not so lucky with reported power outages and plenty of flooding.
For the first time in history, the entire New York transit system shut down at 12 noon today, meaning that all subway stations were closed, no buses are running and the three New York airports are closing down later this evening for outgoing flights with the majority of incoming flights already cancelled. Parts of lower Manhattan have been evacuated for fear of flooding. My friends who live down there are battening everything down as they have not been evacuated and are only one street away from the streets that have been!
Most of us have had to endure it and those that have not, will no doubt
have to at some point of their lives. Yes I’m talking about the dreaded
terminal time caused by a flight delay or even worse, cancellation!
According to flightstats.com July 2011 saw 123,075 flight delays and 3,442 cancellations in Europe alone! Looking at global statistics the delays were a staggering 523,307 and 26,870 in cancellations.
Most of us have been touched by social media in one way or another; needless to say it has been integrated into our lives seamlessly.
Many of us use Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to name just a few, however many people were surprised when aviation's big player British Airways announced recently it was turning to YouTube to recruit new pilots! It is a bold and positive move.
the UK tourism industry reaching approximately £105 billion in revenue
each year, it’s no surprise that travel accessories have become
extremely popular in recent years.
What's more, a recent study by ‘Co-operative Insurance’ revealed that female travellers over-pack by almost double for their annual holiday. Needless to say travel accessories may add to us over-packing.
It was fun trying to get to Kensington High Street yesterday afternoon for a meeting. I discovered that the District and Circle lines are closed until 27th August for upgrade work! Apparently August is a quiet time. You could have fooled me with the amount of tourists I saw looking totally confused faced with the closure. The only alternative was to take a bus, and given that it was 30 degrees yesterday and London buses are not air conditioned, I arrived at my meeting late and hot!
As a Londoner I know that staying entertained in the capital can prove to be quite expensive, however I’ve just stumbled across the perfect solution. I decided to take advantage of living in such a lovely city; I topped up my Oyster card and headed into the Centre...
