Oscars, Cocktails and Beverly Hills...Sound Good to you?

As you may very well know, the 84th Oscar Academy Awards are just around the corner and if you’re someone who enjoys celebrating the red carpet shindig in style, there’s nowhere more fitting this year than at the famous Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The hotel, which is part of the Dorchester Collection, is a favourite amongst the A-listers and is a hot spot for celebrities to boost their triumphs after the ceremony! It seems only right therefore that the hotel is offering a selection of unique Oscar-themed cocktails during the run up to the exclusive event on the 26th February 2012, inspired by this year’s ‘Big Picture’ nominations.

If only to tease your taste buds, we’re going to share with you a couple of the lovely cocktails available...

Inspired by The Descendents, the ‘Kaua Ta’i’ cocktail is one of our favourites. With Ron Zacapa rum, fresh lime juice, orange curaco and rock candy syrup, it’s almost, if not more scrumptious than George Clooney himself (and if you haven’t watched the film, make sure you read our review).

Or if you fancy something with a little fire, you may be enticed by the ‘French 75’, which is made up of Tanqueray gin, lemon juice, sugar and Moet champagne. This cocktail, you may have guessed, is inspired by the fantastic War Horse and is named after the 75-millimetre M1897, a light, potent little gun with a vicious rate of fire used by the French artillery in World War I.

So, if you fancy a bit of Hollywood glamour, make sure you get in touch with the Beverly Hills Hotel to book a reservation.Who knows who you might bump into...Gwyneth Paltrow, Michael Caine, Dame Judi Dench, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have all graced the hotel!
