It seems the threat of industrial action continues to hover over the aviation industry with its
continuous presence in the news. Last month the well-known long-haul airline received a
fair share of the limelight - largely for the wrong reasons. The potential Virgin strike placed
us all on a seesaw of ‘will they, won’t they’ but thankfully we saw a resolution to the strike
before it affected the holiday plans of any passengers.
I finally made it to Assaggini yesterday for lunch with a friend who also writes for Our Man On The Ground and has her own great Blog. Juan, the very hospitable manager has put together a very professional and delightful team who looked after us extremely well. We love the ambience which is fresh, clean and trendy. This part of London around Haymarket and Lower Regent Street was crying out for some decent restaurants.
I visited the Cuckoo Club in London's Mayfair yesterday evening to do a review of their excellent restaurant. It is very eclectic and international with a youngish crowd. I think we may possibly have been the only Brits there last night. The girls at the table behind us spoke only French and a well-known US actress arrived a little later and sat just across from us with her boyfriend and friends.
