Every two weeks in June and July Sanderson Predicts in the Sanderson Hotel, London hosts an evening with up and coming young bands.  Last night I went along to see Josh Beech and The Johns play in the Sanderson Courtyard, which was the perfect setting with its open roof.

It seems the threat of industrial action continues to hover over the aviation industry with its
continuous presence in the news. Last month the well-known long-haul airline received a
fair share of the limelight - largely for the wrong reasons. The potential Virgin strike placed
us all on a seesaw of ‘will they, won’t they’ but thankfully we saw a resolution to the strike
before it affected the holiday plans of any passengers.

I attended a Press evening yesterday in London to celebrate Siesta Key, in Sarasota on Florida’s Gulf Coast being awarded America’s best beach award for 2011 by Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman, aka “Dr Beach”.   Dr. Beach flew over for the event and I spent some time chatting to him about the award and what is involved in drawing up his top 10 beaches every year, something he has been doing since 1991.

I finally made it to Assaggini yesterday for lunch with a friend who also writes for Our Man On The Ground and has her own great Blog.  Juan, the very hospitable manager has put together a very professional and delightful team who looked after us extremely well.  We love the ambience which is fresh, clean and trendy.  This part of London around Haymarket and Lower Regent Street was crying out for some decent restaurants.

I visited the Cuckoo Club in London's Mayfair yesterday evening to do a review of their excellent restaurant.  It is very eclectic and international with a youngish crowd.  I think we may possibly have been the only Brits there last night.  The girls at the table behind us spoke only French and a well-known US actress arrived a little later and sat just across from us with her boyfriend and friends.

I visited the brand new St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London today which opened its doors on 6th May 2011 and was impressed with the work that has been carried out to restore this wonderful old station hotel to its former glory.  The 245 room hotel is divided in to two parts with 60 rooms in the original Chambers side and 187 newly created rooms in the Barlow side.
